K25 Billion being Endorsed for Allotment for Horticulturists by the Malawi Investment and Trade Center (MITC)

NEW AFRICA BUSINESS NEWS (NABN) Freetown, Sierra Leone – The grant is portion of the Caribbean Pacific Liaison Committee (COLEACP) receptacle programme on Agricultural value chains under Fit for Market + programme subsidized by the European Union (EU).
The Fit for Market+Programme is intended for at giving technical support to African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) nations like Malawi to retain and enhance the capability of Smallholder farmer groups and horticultural Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to access domestic, regional and international markets.
Deliby Chimbalu – Public Relations Officer of MITC defined the appropriation has a tremendous chance for business people in the Horticulture Sector.
“One of the key challenges facing our businesses is lack of finance or funding to implement their projects that could benefit the country’s economy,” she announced.
Chimbalu said such opportunities need to be utilized and that is why MITC is encouraging those operating in the horticulture sector to apply for the funding.
She further told, the programme under COLEACP will run for five years. It is an extremely crucial program, because the technical assistance that they give; concentrates on building the capacity of MSMEs in areas of developing export market plans, preparing business plans, export standards awareness, and improving their access to national, regional, and international horticulture markets amongst others.
COLEACP designs and organizes development programmes in the Agriculture and food sector financed by donors primarily the EU and organizations of ACP states.
