$410 Million agreed to be subsidized by South Africa’s MTN Group Limited and IHS Holdings Limited in providing Health Services in Nigeria

NEW AFRICA BUSINESS NEWS (NABN) Freetown, Sierra Leone – The sale-and-lease back agreement covers 5,709 sites, as well as power and affiliated services to MTN’s accepted tower portfolio in the nation, the telecoms provider noted. The money from the sale will be reinvest in obtaining more spectrum in South Africa, and also give it the more, flexibility with its finances.
The pact gives IHS an access into Africa’s supreme improved economy, and extra dividend of about $220 million in the first year of operations, it asserted. The marketing will see IHS evolve the biggest autonomous tower operator in South Africa.
MTN’s cross-town competitor – Vodacom announced last week it intends to segregate its telecoms towers portfolio into a recent unit, while South Africa’s third-largest operator Telkom schedules to catalog its towers and masts business before March 2022. MTN investments have swelled to 161% in 2021 and outweighed rival Vodacom’s
market capitalization along the aisle.
In the meantime, MTN Nigeria, through its Foundation in an announcement started, it will give free medical care to Lagos, Anambra, Rivers, Kano, Gombe and Kwara in the third phase of the ‘MTN Y’ello Doctor Medical Intervention Scheme’.
Dwellers in assigned neighborhoods and markets shall get medical screening, diagnosis, consultations, treatment and drug prescription, as well as referral services.
Odunayo Sanya – Executive Secretary; MTN Foundation at the commissioning of the project let out, the Foundation will proceed to provide to the proliferation of access to healthcare services by rendering primary healthcare accessible to people in communities nationwide. This is in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal three – ‘Good health and well-being’.
