The Administration of Uganda give a piece of Land to African Export-Import Bank (Afrexim Bank) to Set Up its Regional Headquarters in Kampala

NEW AFRICA BUSINESS NEWS (NABN) Freetown, Sierra Leone – The portion of land, located along Yusuf Lule Road, was ceded to Afrexim Bank by Finance Ministry officials led by Minister Matia Kasaija on Monday, 03 October 2022.
Minister Kasaija passed the land to the President and Chairman of Afrexim Bank Dr. Benedict Okey Oramah.
“Government of Uganda is pleased to host the Regional Branch office for the Afrexim Bank and we look forward to a stronger partnership in development of the economic status of this great nation,” the minister announced.
Kasaija clarified that, government approved to give land to the Bank as a way of promoting and accelerating its establishment in Uganda. He said the bank is anticipated to alleviate long term credit with low interest rates to Ugandans.
“The multilateral financial institution is ready to work with us,” he said.
According to Prof. Oramah, Afrexim Bank Kampala will now host Afreximbank East Africa regional office and Africa Trade Centre. “Afreximbank starts the process of creating a deep taproot here in Kampala,” he told.
From Kampala, he said, Afrexim Bank will reach 11 countries in East Africa and the Horn of Africa.
“The Iconic Afrexim Africa Trade Centre (AATC) will show architecturally motivating nodes that will connect traders nd investors across Africa,” said Prof Oramah.
The Afrexim Africa Trade Centre (AATC) in Kampala will house Bank’s regional office, a world class hotel facility, conference and exhibition center, trade information facility, technology incubation hub as well as regional, development institutions.
Afro Exim Bank is a bank, which entrusts money to primarily government institutions to run public projects. Afreximbank, which is headquartered in Cairo, currently has branch offices in Abidjan, Abuja and Harare.
