NEW AFRICA BUSINESS NEWS, Accra, Ghana- THE President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has lauded Russia IT company, Yandex, for investing in Ghana.

Nana Akufo-Addo said this when he interacted with Mr. Musheg Sahakiah, Global Expansion Director for Yango (a service by Yandex, one of the biggest IT companies in the world), and other top managers of the company during the first Russia-Africa Summit and Forum, which was held in Sochi (Russia).

President Akufo-Addo encouraged Yandex and Yango to develop their presence in Ghana, including the launch of educational programs that the company has already successfully introduced in Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States countries.

He urged Yandex to ensure Yango operated across the country and also introduced its educational programs in Ghana.

Mr. Sahakiah explained that since the company joined the existing ride-hailing market in Accra, Yango had provided Ghanaians with the new choice.

“Competition is always good for us because it motivates all market players to improve, and everyone wins in the end; users get cheaper rides and better service, drivers can earn better money, and country gets the latest high-level technologies,” he said.

He said they had ensured users get cheaper rides and better service, drivers good money, and country the latest high-level technologies.
