NEW AFRICA BUSINESS NEWS (NABN) Freetown, Sierra Leone-This newly established facility will cater to the growing need for high-quality food ingredients and flavors, facilitating local manufacturers to produce flavorful products that meet the choices of African consumers.

“Kerry believes in Africa, and this new facility builds on our commitment to support the food processing industry locally and unlock the huge potential in the region,” stated Edmond Scanlon – Kerry’s Global CEO.

“This move is another step towards realizing our vision of creating an industry of sustainable nutrition.”

Jad Neaime – General Manager, Kerry Greater Africa, underscored the importance of Kerry’s first-mover advantage in local food ingredients manufacturing in East Africa.

“Tanzania, as the third-largest economy in East Africa and the ninth in Africa, is a fast-growing economy with a thriving food processing industry,” Neaime commented.

“Producing in Tanzania brings to life our localization vision; nurturing local partnerships, empowering local talent, and developing local sourcing to enable sustainable growth in East Africa.”

Kerry’s obligation to sustainability proceeds beyond its products to its operations. The new manufacturing facility has been developed with energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in mind, integrating eco-friendly practices to minimize its environmental impact. This strategic development into Tanzania  aligns with Kerry’s global vision of creating a world of sustainable nutrition.

The company intends to catch up with over two billion consumers with sustainable nutrition solutions by 2030, and its presence in Tanzania is an important effort towards attaining this enterprising terminus.
