Head of Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) – Monie R Captan, conveyed assurance in Liberians taking over the electricity Operations after Ten Years of Foreign Management

NEW AFRICA BUSINESS NEWS (NABN) Freetown, Sierra Leone– Captan addressed correspondents over the weekend during the
commissioning of the LEC Unit power plant at the maintenance at the LEC Mount Coffee Hydro in Harrisburg.

Captan noted that the Liberia Electricity Corporation, is presently run by Liberians themselves who regulate and retain the whole electricity sector of Liberia. He further expanded that Liberians being in charge of LEC establishes the stride for sustainability and steady management of stable electricity, without having to pay foreigners to come to Liberia and do the work that Liberians can do.

“They said we couldn’t run LEC after ten years of foreign management, but now Liberians themselves are running LEC. They are operating and maintaining the entire hydro, and this has to happen because it is the only way for us to have sustainability in running and managing our country,” LEC Captan said.

He condemned people who repeatedly utilize electricity through illicit means and exhorted them to comprehend the work done by their fellow Liberian brothers and sisters to assure they all have electricity to pay their bills. He underlined that this would fulfill a motivation to guarantee stable electricity.

“I hope the public can now appreciate the kind of work that Liberians are doing to ensure stable electricity through the hydro and use it by legal means by paying bills for the electricity instead of wanting to use it for free without paying, which is unacceptable,” Captan said.
