The Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate – Senator Mohamed Ndume Proposed to President Bola Tinubu to Enact an Executive Order targeting Unexplained Wealth in Nigeria

NEW AFRICA BUSINESS NEWS (NABN) Freetown, Sierra Leone- Ndume, who’s representing Borno South Senatorial District, laid emphasis on the importance of empowering anti-graft agencies to investigate individuals with questionable financial holdings, him inclusive.
Speaking in Abuja, Ndume assured that the proposed order would force wealthy Nigerians to account for the sources of their wealth or face forfeiture to the administration of Nigeria.
He gave a round of applause to President Tinubu’s current directive to channel crude oil revenues into a centralized account at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), referencing it as a move towards fighting corruption. He gave premium on the crucial stance of scrutinizing personal finances, encircling his own, to bolster transparency and address national concerns. He warned against dismissing the issue as trivial, urging a straightforward on broader national interests.
The senator’s call for accountability highlights ongoing feats to fight corruption and stimulate financial transparency within Nigeria’s political landscape.
He noted: “Let all these people explain where they got their money, including myself. People should stop talking about trivialities or personal issues; they should talk about national issues.”
