NEW AFRICA BUSINESS NEWS (NABN) Freetown, Sierra Leone–  Despite the funds budgeted by the Federal Government, the Dangote Group is the second largest donor to education in Nigeria. And also the nation’s biggest private sector employer.

Through a paper discerned by newsmen indicates that, about one thousand engineering graduates have been accepted into the Dangote Academy, and thereafter hired into the several associates of the Dangote Group. The unrestricted training programmes in the Dangote Academy found in Kogi State are Graduate Engineer Training Scheme, Junior Technician Training Scheme, and Vocational Training Scheme.

The alliance has given an abundance of infrastructural backing to the nation’s tertiary institutions, one of which is the construction of N1.2billion for the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. The corporation had also invested a N1.2billion Business School for the Bayero University Kano. According to sources, the group also constructed N500
million wealth of dormitories and power supply installations for the University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano State. It’s asserted the company also constructed a N300 million Aliko Dangote Business Complex for the University of Ibadan Business School.

The document disclosed that the company donated N50 million to Ogun State based Crescent University, as a component of its donation to subsidize the school in delivering infrastructural facilities. Same, the corporation also donated N120 million for the edifice of school blocks at Nawair-ud-deen Comprehensive College, Idi-Oro, Mushin, Lagos.

And first, the corporation had donated N200 million to Katsina State University. And further, gave N118 million for a squash complex project at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka main campus and another N50 million to the University of Port Harcourt.

It would be remembered that the President of the Dangote Group Aliko Dangote was in 2018 named sixth most charitable person in the world by a UK-based Richtopia Group. Dangote had announced, he was prioritizing his philanthropic works which include education health and empowerment, among others.
