NEW AFRICA BUSINESS NEWS (NABN) Freetown, Sierra Leone- The administration of the Moroccan Airport has pegged to
expand its capacity from the existing 40 million to 80 million. The projects sought to extend and refurbish several airports, Minister
of Transport and Logistics – Mohamed Abdeljalil, spoke out on Wednesday, July 03rd, 2024.

Gabbing during the 28th Session of the General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO), Abdeljalil brought up that, improving the capacity of Moroccan airports is a facet of the Kingdom’s practices for the cooperative organization of the 2030 Football World Cup.

He counted that, Morocco would redo these airports, develop air navigation kits, and bolster air connectivity, especially low-cost, given the significance of civil aviation in the triumph of prominent global events.

Therefore, the Minister spoke of that Morocco’s flag carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is examining to quadruple its air fleet by 2037, with the aim of recasting Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport into an intercontinental hub.

Abdeljalil furthermore accentuated Morocco’s endeavors in the fields of cybersecurity and the digitalization of international civil aviation activities, as well as its readiness to embrace legal and regulatory metamorphoses to enable this sector at both international and Arab level.

Emphasizing the Kingdom’s ambitions to develop civil aviation safety and security, the government official underscored that, Morocco had been competent to boost the average of the civil aviation safety audit carried out by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to 85%, mirroring the drudgeries brought in by the country to evolve the civil aviation sector.
