Sierra Leone Strengthen Economic and Trade Cooperation with Nigeria

NEW AFRICA BUSINESS NEWS, Freetown, Sierra Leone- High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to Nigeria – Dr. Solomon Gembeh last Thursday in Abuja by a way of interview by the press; revealed that, Nigeria and Sierra Leone have had a long standing relationship which could be further strengthened with development and regional integration which is a core vision of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
He unfolded that, Sierra Leone is rich in over twenty-five mineral resources including diamond, gold, oil among others and was waiting on Nigeria to support such resources which will be a win-win situation for both governments.
Dr. Gembeh noted ” Our President, Julius Maada Bio believes that we have been in independence for about 58 years now and it has not taken us anywhere, and so he wants the diplomats to be the gateway for economic developments of our country.
“The concept of economy diplomacy was born on the idea that, my primary function here is how best I can sell Sierra Leone and the National resources that we have.
“We are endowned with too many resources for a country of 7.5 million. We ha e 25 known mineral resources and all these are things you need in the West.
“We have virgin lands waiting for Nigerians to be a part of this dream that we have in making Sierra Leone like a Singapore and you can be able to help us”.
In addition, the High Commissioner said the cost of business registration a d other related payments have been reviewed and any Sierra Leonean caught taking bribe from business registration from foreign investors will be sent to jail.
