NEW AFRICA BUSINESS NEWS- Historic Paris Notre Dame Cathedral, one of its most beautiful structures caught fire for several hours on Monday, nearly destroying the centuries old Church before several hundred firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. Notre Dame Cathedral is saved but many difficult decisions remain. Monday’s fire is the first major fire in the Cathedral’s 850 year history. This beautiful church survived multiple wars, Nazi occupation and World War II, Allied Liberation.

According to France this way, building the Cathedral of Notre Dame, was in 1160 that the decision to build Notre Dame was made, shortly after the Paris Church became the Central Church for all Kings of Europe. Many notable events took place within its hallowed walls. In 1431 Henry VI of England was made King of France inside Notre Dame. Napoleon Bonaparte was crowned Emperor there in 1804.

Donations to rebuild Paris historic Notre Dame Cathedral neared $1 Billion Wednesday. The French Culture Minister Frank Riester on Wednesday announced a web portal for global donors.

The French President Emmanuel Macron said in a nationally televised address on Tuesday said the fire of Notre Dame reminds us that our story never ends and we will always have challenges to overcome what we believe to be indestructible can also be touched. The President also said throughout history, we have built Towns, Ports, Churches, each time we have rebuilt them.
