New Africa Business News- The President of Sudan who served for almost Thirty years, this former paratrooper who seized power in a bloodless coup in 1989, was removed from office by the Sudanese Army according to the Defense Minister, Lt. General Auf, announced on Thursday. He further stated Mr. Omar al- Bashir had been taken into custody and his government had been dissolved. The Constitution had been suspended and there would be a two-year transition period and the Army in charge. The Defense Minister further stated Mr. al- Bashir was in a safe place after his arrest. The State media reports, the Military warns it will enforce a night time curfew and will begin by 10:00 pm.
According to New Africa Business News sources coming from Sudan Tens of thousands of Sudanese took to the street in the center of the Capital City of Khartoum in celebration and chanting it has fallen, we won.
The detained Sudanese President has also been indicted by the International Criminal Courts in The Hague over allegations of genocide in Darfur region of Sudan.
