New Africa Business News, Yachats, Oregon- Chinese President Xi Jinping is hosting the second Belt and Road Forum April 25 through the 27th. China promises global infrastructure projects. According to the government of China, Thirty- Seven Heads of State, and Hundred and Fifty-Nine Countries in attendance, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Gutierrez, and International Monetary Fund Chief Christine Lagarde attending.
In this 2nd Belt and road Forum, Chinese President will discuss infrastructure expansion, trade links from China to Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
One of the African Countries benefiting from the Belt and Road Forum this year is Ethiopia. The largest deal is $1.8 Billions agreement between Ethiopia and Chinese State Grid Corporation to provide electric transmission and distribution equipment. China announced it will write off debt for all interest free loans matured until the end of 2018 for Ethiopia. Since 2000 Ethiopia has borrowed about 12 Billions from China. These projects includes the Addis Ababa to Djibouti electric railway linking Ethiopia and Djibouti.
