A group of scientists, intellectuals and political activists has issued a petition demanding the urgent creation of an international investigative committee on the root cause and propagation of AIDS and Ebola. The authors of the document claimed that it would be impossible to act efficiently against AIDS and Ebola in Africa without knowing their scientific root causes.
In this vein, since August 13, Prof. Pascal Adjamagbo in collaboration with Dr. Guy Alovor and the former UNESCO official, Dr. Kanyana Mutombo, had launched a campaign to sign a petition at the African Union for the setting up of an international investigative committee by the UN Security Council and the African Union over the origin of AIDS and Ebola.
According to them it is urgent that top policymakers from Africa and the UN do something to safeguard the interests of Africans and the wider world, particularly their health security.
The petitioners are calling for such a committee to be placed under the aegis of the UN Security Council and the African Union (AU) and whose chairperson and half its members would be appointed by the AU and lead to the setting up of a Special AIDS and Ebola court.
Such court will also be in charge of trying all perpetrators, backers and executors of the suspected crimes the petitioners said.
