Senegal’s Prime Minister Mrs. Aminata Toure has resigned in the aftermath of her defeat in the local elections held last Sunday, the Dakar-based private radio station RFM announced Friday evening.The source did not clearly specify whether the Prime Minister resigned on her volituon or was dismissed by President Macky Sall
Aminata Toure, who has been in office since 1 September 2013, is the second Prime Minister of President Macky Sall.
Mrs. Toure a candidate in the local elections for the control of the district of Grand-Yoff (Dakar suburbs), was on Sunday defeated by the incumbent mayor of Dakar, Mr. Khalifa Sall.
On Sunday evening, shortly after the proclamation of the provisional poll results, Mrs. Touré had told a press conference that ,We will resume work and conquer other victories. As a horse rider, you have to get back in the saddle when you fall”
President Macky Sall had threatened that all candidates of the ruling coalition called â€˜Benno Bokk Yakaar (BBY) who would lose their constituencies would be subject to sanctions.
