A student at the Dakar University, who tried to intervene in a fight between two other students, was beaten to death, Senegalese press reported on Thursday. The 27 year-old Master degree student, Saar Boye went to the restaurant early on Wednesday evening after jogging when he fell on an altercation between two students.
According to several accounts, one of the protagonists lashed out at him by beating him severely as he tried to separate them.
Seeing that Saar is ailing, his friends outside the restaurant, hurried to evacuate him to UCAD medical services where he died.
The students requested an investigation over the death of Saà«r Boye who was from Saint Louis, 217 km northern Dakar, Senegalese capital.
His assailant is currently on the run.
