The Chairman of the Normalization committee for the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Joseph Owona has rejected the recent fraud claims concerning Cameroon’s participation the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He was reacting to the allegations published in the German newspaper Der Spiegel on 27 June which affirmed that the 18 June Cameroon-Croatia clash was fixed.
Quoting one Wilson Raj Perumal known as the king of the football bets, without giving evidence evokes strange details posted in Facebook prior to the match.
Mr. Raj Perumal was reported to have predicted Cameroon’s defeat by 4 goals to 0 and the expulsion of one Cameroonian player before break time.
According to Joseph Owona such kinds of claims do not reflect the values and principles promoted by FECAFOOT which he says is quite in line with ethic values dictated by the International Football Federation (FIFA).
He said instructions were already given for FECAFOOT ethic committee to investigate the claims and elucidate the affair.
We are determined to use all the necessary means to resolve the issue without delay, he added.
