Africa Lost A Great Son, Hon Buba Baldeh Dies In Senegal, His Corpse Turned Away, By Gambian President Jammeh
Very sad news of the sudden death of Hon Buba Baldeh, a former Gambian Minister of youth and sport, in the first republic, and a former daily observer director, and deputy ruling APRC mobiliser.
Hon Buba Baldeh was in exiled in Senegal, since 2006. According to our sources, he died last night in Dakar after complaining for few days of stomach-ache. This was after returning from a conference in Nigeria last week.
The remains of the exiled Gambian former minister who died in the Senegalese capital Dakar on Wednesday have been turned away from his home town of Basse in the Upper River Region. Family members said on Thursday that an entourage of mourners who had travelled with Bubacarr Baldeh’s corpse was denied access to Gambian territory by armed guards who claimed that no official clearance had been given to allow them to pass.
According to a reliable source, the President of The Gambia, Yaya Jammeh, did not allowed his body to be buried in The Gambia. He was buried in Senegal. New Africa Business News contacted President Jammeh’s office, before publishing this story, with no reponse.
