The media industry in Nigeria is mourning the death of senior editor, Mr Suleiman Bisalla, 46, who died in the Abuja plaza explosion on Wednesday. Bisalla, the Managing Editor (North) of the New Telegraph newspapers was caught up in the Emab plaza bomb explosion in which 21 people have been confirmed dead.
The newspaper in its report on Thursday confirmed rumour that the journalist was among the dead.
It said Bisalla left the Abuja office of the New Telegraph at 3.30pm for the Emab plaza to fix his mobile telephone handset when the explosions occurred.
Bisalla, whose corpse had been deposited at the Maitama General Hospital, along with others, was a former Deputy Editor with the Daily Trust in Abuja, before he joined the New Telegraph late last year.
The Managing Director of the Daily Telegraph Publishing Company, Mr. Gabriel Akinadewo, described Bisalla as a thoroughbred and hardworking journalist who will be sorely missed.
