The Gambia’s minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, Balla Garba Jahumpha has been discharged from a hospital in Spain to where he was evacuated after sustaining injuries in a car accident a week ago.According to a report by the Daily Observer on Monday, Gambia’s diplomatic mission in Spain had confirmed that the minister has left hospital in the European country after apparently recovering.

The paper whose reporter contacted Mr Jahumpa quoted the minister as saying: I am okay, in fact I am watching a football match right now. So everything is okay thank God.

Media sources in Gambia last week claimed the minister was flown to the Senegalese capital Dakar on Wednesday en route to Spain after last Monday’s collision with a bull on a provincial road President Yahya Jammeh’s motorcade was using.

Jahumpa and the driver of his vehicle were said to have been critically injured and were briefly treated at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul before the minister’s evacuation.

There has been no word on his driver.
