President Goodluck Jonathan Tuesday directed the office of the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) to work in conjunction the governors of the 36 states of the federation, with a view to ensuring that they meet their indices and
targets before May 2015.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs, Dr. Precious Gbenol disclosed this when she briefed State House
Correspondents shortly after the quarterly Presidential Committee meeting on assessment and monitoring of the MDGs chaired by Jonathan. Gbenol also hinted that the president scheduled another meeting between the MDGs and the state governors.
She told journalists that Jonathan expressed satisfaction with what had been achieved so far, but insisted on the May 2015 deadline given to the MDGs to meet the target.
